Will THC-P, THC-X, THC-A Show in Vape Show In a Drug Test?

The 2018 Farm Bill, otherwise referred to as the Agriculture Improvement Act, sanctioned the legality of hemp and products derived from hemp at a national level, leading to the expansion and growth of the hemp market. U.S. federal legislation defines hemp as cannabis plants with less than 0.3% THC content on a dry-weight basis, whereas marijuana is identified as cannabis plants that surpass this 0.3% THC threshold.

The Farm Bill further removed hemp and products derived from hemp from the classification of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act. This implies that while cannabis continues to be illegal, hemp products are now lawful to utilize, own, produce, and market. This has made THC sister compounds like THC-A, THC-P, THC-X, and Delta-8, Delta-9, Delta-10, and HHC emerge as popular legal cannabinoids among consumers.

THC-P (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is a naturally occurring phytocannabinoid found in both hemp and marijuana plants. It has gained significant attention due to its similar molecular structure with everyone’s favourite, Delta-9 THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Studies have suggested that it could be 15-30 times more potent in terms of psychoactivity and the most potent psychoactive cannabinoid found in the hemp plant today. THC-P and its sister analog, THC-X, are considered to have exceptional potencies and notable psychoactive effects.

The strength of THCP is attributed to its enhanced binding affinity for the CB1 receptors in the human endocannabinoid system compared to THC. These receptors are accountable for the mind-altering effects of cannabinoids. THCP binding more effectively to these receptors gives it remarkably strong psychoactive effects. In fact, some research suggests that THCP may bind to CB1 receptors over 33 times as strongly as delta 9, potentially making it up to 33 times as potent as regular THC.

Considering the potency of THCP, scientists are conducting more in-depth research into its possible advantages. Preliminary research indicates that THCP may have potential medical uses similar to THC, such as providing pain relief, reducing inflammation, and stimulating appetite. The remarkable potency makes it potentially more effective for patients who require high levels of THC in their treatment, such as those using high THC oils to combat cancer.

THCP’s strength might help with sleep problems and severe pain by providing sedative effects. It goes without saying that legal hemp THCs similarities to marijuana’s THC is a big part of the appeal for these products. Ark Smoke Shop, South Miami, is happy to provide this federally legal, hassle free way, for you to get the relief you need from your THC-P Vape, like Cali Reserve (THC-X+THC-P+HYDROXY-11+DELTA-8 THC).

But, if you take these legal hemp options, THC-P/THC-X/THC-A, are you safe from failing a drug test? You may be surprised by the answer.

• THC-P, or tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is a highly potent form of THC that has recently been discovered. THCP is believed to have a stronger psychoactive effect than Delta-9 THC making it one of our favourite choices.

• THC-X, or tetrahydrocannabinol x, is a potent form of THC that has been found to be more effective than Delta-9 THC in treating pain and other medical conditions. It is not a naturally occurring cannabinoid in either marijuana or hemp, but a lab-created compound formed by adding acetic anhydride to THC. THC-X can be made from CBD or THC from either plant, but it’s most commonly derived from hemp-based CBD.

• THC-A, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is the raw, non-psychoactive form of THC found in the hemp plant. It is converted into THC when it is exposed to heat through smoking or vaporization. Researchers believe that THCA has anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. Learn more about THCA in our blog post -> https://arksmoke.com/benefits-of-thca

Just as there are factors that affect how long weed is detected in your system, factors such as dosage, consumption method, metabolism, and overall health can affect the length of time THC-A, THC-P, or THC-X remain detectable. Here’s something interesting that many people don’t know: drug tests don’t look for traces of the cannabis plant or Delta-9 THC specifically, but for THC-COOH. This enzyme remains in the body long after consuming marijuana. In fact, THC-COOH can remain in the system from a few days to several weeks after the last dose, depending on several factors.

So the answer is simple, yes, legal hemp THCs like THC-P, THC-X, and THC-A can show up in a drug test, because of the way it is synthesized in the body.

Standard drug tests primarily target THC and its metabolites, not its analogs specifically, however whether or not legal THCs shows up on a test depends on the type of test being used. It’s more likely to be detected by more sensitive tests, but it’s not always a definite thing.

Your chances of failing a drug test are higher when you consume heated THCA products, like eating or smoking them. Heat is what changes THCA into THC so using THCA can make you fail a drug test. THC-P itself does not show up on a drug test but THC-P is still THC, and very similar chemically to Delta 9 THC, so would yield a result as THC showing in the drug test. We know many of you are concerned about drug testing and whether THC-P can cause a positive result. The short answer is…yes, there is a possibility.

How Long Do Legal THCs Stay in Your System?

Now, let’s talk about the factors that can influence the likelihood of failing a drug test when using THC-P, THC-A, or THC-X. This depends on several things, such as:

Potency: How strong the THC product is.

Dosage: How much you’ve taken.

Frequency of Use: How often you use it.

Body Fat: How much fat you have in your body.

Methods of Consumption: How you use it, like smoking or eating.

Metabolism: How your body processes things. A very fast metabolism will break down THC compounds quickly.

Researchers haven’t figured out exactly how long THCA stays in the body. We can make an educated guess based on studies, as it’s likely to break down into THC and COOH, that it can be detected for up to 74.3 hours.

Studies also show that how long THC-COOH stays in your body depends on how you use it, and which fluids they test:

Urine Tests: 90% of the drug tests administered in the United States are urine tests, which can show whether or not a person has used THC from 2 days to 6 weeks after it was last taken.

Saliva Tests: Saliva tests can show THC for up to 48 hours, and they’re most commonly used by law enforcement, especially at traffic stops to determine whether or not a person is driving while intoxicated.

Hair Tests: Hair strand tests detect up to 90 days. Though expensive and somewhat unreliable they’re most often used in autopsies to see if a person was intoxicated at the time of their death.

Blood Tests: A blood test only shows if a person is presently intoxicated, up to 20 hours. It’s usually performed in a hospital setting or similar type of environment, and thus, can bring results back quickly.

Perspiration Tests: A perspiration test is the least common, and it’s usually used for clinical trials. It involves attaching a patch to a person’s skin, which collects sweat over 2 weeks. The sweat can contain trace amounts of THC-COOH.

These numbers are for first-time use. As mentioned, if you use THCA/P/X frequently, along with other factors, the detection period can be as long as 45 days for heavy users.

In General, there’s a high possibility that consuming legal THCs may result in a positive drug test. Any intake of THC substances, regardless if it’s derived from hemp or marijuana, exposes you to the potential of not passing a drug test. If you are going to be drug-tested soon we recommend stopping use of products containing THC.
